LIVING HERE

TE WEKA IS SO MUCH MORE THAN A PIECE OF LAND WHERE SOME HOUSES ARE GOING TO BE BUILT. THIS IS A TRULY SPECTACULAR LOCATION SET IN AN ENVIRONMENT WITH AN OUTLOOK THAT TAKES THE BREATH AWAY.

Embrace the life this estate offers, with private mountain bike and walking trails. Ascend the viewing platform at the trig for breathtaking 360-degree views or take a stroll down the trail to Red Bridge Café and the trout fishing spots along the Tuki Tuki River. Tennis enthusiasts can indulge in a game on the private court. Embrace living here.

LIVING HERE DESERVES SO MUCH MORE THAN SIMPLY A PASSIVE INVESTMENT OF DOLLARS.  IT ALSO DESERVES AN INVESTMENT OF TIME, PASSION AND PARTICIPATION.

To paraphrase John F Kennedy:

‘with privilege comes responsibility’

We believe for those privileged enough to call Te Weka home,  comes the responsibility of not only respecting  the mana of this place but also embracing what makes it  so unique. This is a living, breathing, active environment that pleads for your participation. To get up and get out on the trails, to wind your way to the local café by bike or by foot rather than by car and to feel truly connected to the land and landscape and to make it your own – for you, your family, and perhaps generations to come.

COMMON LAND FACILITIES

The facilities at Te Weka are numerous but in keeping with the environment. There will be communal spaces and alone spaces and spaces where you can simply absorb the majesty of your surroundings.

Communal spaces will include a residents’ pavilion, tennis and pickleball courts and places within this area to meet up, chat and either plan the day ahead or relive the day that has just been.

There are more than 3.6k of downhill mountain-bike trails and a similar length but separate walking trails. Te Weka is an active outdoor environment with facilities that reflect this and encourage families to spend precious time together embracing their natural environment.

YOUR OWN FAMILY TREES

When you purchase a site at Te Weka, we will walk with you over the vast areas of open spaces and help you select an area that you feel a connection with.  We will then discuss with you the types of trees that will grow best there. We will then provide you with 100 young trees for you and your family to plant on the common land, it will be your family place to look after, protect and watch transform as the years – and even generations - go by.

MOUNTAIN BIKING AT TE WEKA

Extensive work has been put in to an exhilarating mountain bike trail that winds around the southern side of the estate. Through dense bush and open fields it starts at the trig station right at the top and a fast 3.6 km later you’ll be close to riverside. Organised shuttle days will get you and your bike quickly back to the trig station to start all over again. And again.

WALKING AT TE WEKA

Just like the mountain bike trails Te Weka also has extensive walking and hiking trails. These combine spectacular views, canopies of native bush and totally quiet and peaceful areas where there will just be you and the birds. Unlike the mountain bike trail, the walking trails are designed  with gentle gradients in mind. A gentle zig zag can quite easily get you from the views at the top to the renowned Red Bridge Café at the bottom – and back up again after a good strong coffee.

IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

CYCLING AND WALKING PATHWAYS

Hawke’s Bay’s extensive network of cycleways starts almost at your doorstep. Cross the (cycle monitored) Red Bridge and the flat limestone network of pathways begins. The wineries and restaurants of Craggy Range and Black Barn are just minutes away – or you can cycle all the way to Napier and beyond practically without needing to be on a road.

FISHING THE TUKI TUKI

Wander down to the Tuki Tuki river in time for the evening rise. Or talk to others about recommendations, theories and tall stories on which pools and bends hold the best trout. You’ll soon see why this river holds such a reputation amongst anglers throughout the country.

OCEAN BEACH

Perhaps in the car this time, turn left out of Te Weka and head in the opposite direction to the river. Within about 12 minutes through beautiful Hawke’s Bay farmland – you’ll arrive at one of its most spectacular secrets. Ocean Beach. A huge stretch of golden sand several kilometres long with a big rolling surf. Perfect for surfing, casting a line, long sunrise walks or swimming (between the flags recommended) this is a really magical spot.

The more popular but equally spectacular Waimarama beach is just a few kilometres to the south.

CIVILISATION

While Te Weka looks out across riverbeds, farmland, sweeping peaks and the ocean in the distance – it is also in fact only minutes from some of the best wining, dining and shopping in the country.

The multi- award winning Craggy Range Winery is minutes away by either car, bike or cab. And just a  little further around the corner (still on bike trails if you wish) is the local favourite Black Barn. And a few minutes on from there, you’re in the heart of Havelock North – a bustling village filled to the brim with great shopping, food supplies, butchers, cafes and great restaurants.
